‘When early Dawn revealed her rose-red hands…’ Odyssey, Homer (trans. Emily Watson)
At dawn and dusk, sunlight is scattered through the atmosphere. As the shorter blue wavelengths disperse, so the longer wavelengths of red and pink light dominate. The sky saturates with infinite gradations of rose and the field of view is transformed into a vast silhouette artwork, evocative of the worlds of Eastern European folk tales.
