In the recently completed interior renovation of the church of St John-at-Hackney, it is impossible to separate the experience of the interior spaces from the perpetually evolving dialogue of each volume, surface and detail with light. From moment to moment, the fall of light and shadow underscores the patterns and rhythms embedded within architecture, whilst also overlaying what is fixed and permanent with a fleeting interplay that is entirely its own.
