Time telling
'The grid of glazing bars on the front wall of my office is relatively simple but throws surprisingly intricate patterns of shadow over the building's internal geometry when the sun reaches certain points in the sky. Even at my desk, a floor below street level, you have an idea of the time of day and the weather, because of what's happening to the light.'
