‘There is an appointed time for everything’. Ecclesiastes 3:1
This stone courtyard, with its single tree and necklace of wisteria, acts as an intense frame for reading the changing of the seasons: there is something about the place that makes the essence of things visible. As time passes, it is also possible to see how different patterns of use and exposure continue to affect the surfaces of the pale, fossil-studded Lecce limestone, used for floors and counters inside and out.
