The resting eye

In any environment, the eye searches
for a point of focus on which to rest.
In a gallery, these points of focus tend
naturally to be paintings or works of
sculpture. In the honed visual fields
of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
in Denmark, the sensitised eye can find
this quality of charged stillness in objects
as simple as a piece of public signage
or the circular brass fixing on a hand rail.
