The relics of ancient Greece in southern Italy
A defensive outpost of Magna Graecia, the city of Paestum was founded around 600BC, by Achaean colonists fleeing from Sybaris. So many of the great architectural themes are here — repetition, rhythm, proportion, scale, mass and order.
