Quiet architecture
Clear threads of thought link the design of the new Christopher Kane store in Mount Street with early gallery projects executed a few blocks away in the late 1980s and 90s. If you look back at the photographs, it is the Flanagan horse or the Calder mobile that holds your attention. Only later might you notice the detail of the junction between the wall and the floor or the grain of the timber boarding. That was the point: the focus was all on the art, as here it falls upon the clothes.
