Still photography, by definition, fixes motion but can still capture a profound impression of movement, as these images of the Iguazu Falls in Argentina — the largest waterfall system in the world — demonstrate. How different is the monumental stillness of the aquamarine icescape of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentinian Patagonia, although the reality is that this vast work of natural architecture, whose fissured front extends 5km and rises to an average height of 74km above the surface of Lake Argentino, is also a mobile entity, slowly advancing and subject to frequent small fractures and sporadic spectacular ruptures.
