In each of these photographs, the contents of the visual field are ordered within frames drawn variously in mass, colour, light and shadow. At a range of scales — from the housing for a single candle to a series of empty choir stalls awaiting population — the effect of each frame is to locate individual entities in space, while also directing the eye of the onlooker to a point of quiet focus.
