Consolation
'Gunnar Asplund designed this canopy to provide just sufficient overhang to shield mourners from the rain as they enter the Woodland Crematorium. The sense of being in an environment where every experience is finely calibrated characterises the place as a whole. This is not about trying to detach or distract people from their feelings of loss and sadness, but the consolation of considered detail.'
