‘An impressionistic, dreaming film, in which the folded rocks arise and flower and grow and become Salisbury Cathedral and York Minster…' Penelope Lively, Moon Tiger
The Monte Albán pyramid complex is part
of a large pre-Columbian archaeological site
in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca.
Located on a low mountainous range,
it rises above the plain on an artificially
levelled ridge. The structure’s monumental
scale and precipitous form speak of an
architectural enterprise that is geological in
its ambition, the unequivocally elemental
character of the place exhilaratingly
tempered by the precision and graphic
clarity of its compositional lines and
repeating rhythms.
