In each of these images taken on the north coast of Devon and Cornwall the elements of the composition are ordered around v or inverted v–forms, framed variously in solid and void, or solid and solid. Whether centrally located or offset, visually dominant or recessive, it is at the point of the v that the eye inevitably finds its resting point.
